Zebras live in Africa, each species of zebra
has its own areas.

 Plains zebra live in the treeless grasslands
and woodlands of eastern and southern
Africa.

The Grevy's zebra lives in the arid
grasslands of Ethiopia and Northern Kenya.
 Zebras are part of the Equidae family along
with horses and donkeys.

 A male zebra is called stallion, a female
zebra is called mare and a baby zebra is
called foal.

 They have unique pattern of black and
white stripes.

Zebras born with stripes which appear
brown and white at birth.

 Their stripes help them to dazzle and
confuse predators and biting insects or to
control the animal's body heat.
 A foal is well developed at birth weighs an
average of 70 pounds.
Zebras eat grass that is green and short.
They also eat leaves and twigs. Some
zebras eat herbs shrubs, especially at times
when grass is scarce.
 They live in grassy and open areas and ave
several adaptations that help them survive
in their habitat.
 Zebras can live up to 25 years.
They are intelligent social animals.

Zebras are fast animals. They can run up to
35 miles per hour.
They have excellent eyesight and sense of
hearing.
 Zebra sleeps while standing.
 The ears of Zebras show their mood.
